If you own a pair of shoes, you might be thinking about how to keep them organized. You can buy shoe racks that are sold in stores for a really good price, but it's possible that you want to make your own! This article will show you how to make your very own DIY shoe rack out of wood.

This DIY project is fun and quite simple and easy to do by following the steps below:

- Select two pieces of wood (one shorter than the other) that you think will look good together. Usually just pick one length from the thicker side or two lengths on opposite sides like shown above.

- From each end of the wood, measure about twice as long as the width  of one side.

- This is a guide for marking the length of your rack. You can measure it out any way you like.

- Drill a hole in each end of your shorter piece of wood.

- For the longer piece of wood, measure the width from each end and mark the middle point (A).

- Mark a 45° angle across from A to B . Measure from corner to corner using these measurements and by using your pencil marks, mark them on both ends of the longer piece (B).

- Drill holes where you have marked A to B . You don't need a drill bit that big since it's only temporary.

- Next, take your shorter piece of wood and attach it to the longer piece. Make sure you line the edge up with the first holes.

- Angle out so that the top edge is even with the top of B .

- Attach with nails or screws if desired. I used nails since I had them around and it just looked nicer.

By the example provided above, I have made several modifications based on my experience. The wood can be purchased from the nearest hardware store or home improvement center and one can use a saw to cut them into desired sizes. If you are using a handheld drill to make holes in the wood then it is recommended that you wear safety goggles/glasses since pieces of splinters could fly into your eyes while you're drilling and cause serious eye injuries just like this [WARNING: this article is graphic] (if you still want to see it). You can also use a jigsaw saw to cut the holes into the wood but you can expect to experience some level of noise while doing so.

While I used a scrap piece of wood, I recommend purchasing pre-cut wooden pieces if you have the means to do so. This will save you from having to do the job yourself and it'll be more convenient for everyone involved.

After marking out your hole locations for the drill, you should drill about four or five smaller holes in each end of your wooden piece at about a 45 degree angle from each other as shown above.
